A few weeks ago, we have been commissioned to create a dance piece at Ignition Dance Festival. This amazing festival, based in Kingston, celebrates choreography from around the UK. Our new challenge: design a dance performance without using any music.
Supported by the Art Council England and co-produced by Dance West, a live performance was developed to picture individuality within globalisation exclusively expressed through one art form only, dance.Working with some of the finest dance artists in the UK, the performers were the ones creating rhythm and melody through choreography. It was a way of inviting the audience into the performance, focusing on the artistry of each dancer while becoming aware of their bodily noises.
