Back in New York, for what has been my favourite Movement Lab this year. Held at Barnard College, we joined fellow artists and researchers to exchange ideas and workshops with creative technology while integrating the Moving Body-Moving Image public installation.
Last month Laboratory, a collaboration between Moving Body-Moving Image and Digital Black Dance Ecologies, has been a space consisting of black artist-researchers and academics who brought insight and expertise to explore the theme of Fugitivity in relation to environmental and social injustice through embodied epistemologies. Through this Lab, artists and researchers engaged in a series of technical playground investigations, round-table discussions, and workshops/sessions led by the group. Laboratory Participant Scholars and Artists were: Gabri Christa, Jonathan Gonzalez, Jazlynn Goudy, Cara Hagan, Alexandrina Yewande Helmsley, Valencia James, André Zachary, Thomas Presto, Makeda Thomas, Tia-Monique Uzor, and Antoine Marc.
